This is the second partof the statement of protest from the Org. of Wicked Stepmothers in fairy tales. If you missed part one and expect me to summarize it for you, you are mistaken.

That fairy tale writers are prejudiced against us further demonstrated by their habit of beginning their stories after our husbands have died. Not only does this practice deprive us of vital character witnesses, it strongly hints that the deaths were engineered by us. It's not enough that we're routinely depicted as child-abusers; the writers have also branded us as murderers.

     We are typecast as anti-heroines while Snow White, Cinderella and company are called heroines. What exactly have they done to deserve this title? Have they killed dragons, rescued persons from danger, or took on quests to benefit their community? What has Snow White done? Sure, she escaped from the hunter, but this was an act of kindness on the huntsman's part rather than a show of her courage. Then she broke into the residence of the seven dwarfs, for which she should've been charged with a FELONY had those short men not been smitten by her beauty, and more importantly, her height.

    She exploited the seven dwarfs' infatuation to gain regular employment as housekeeper. Finally, Snow White nearly died of poisoning, for which she had only herself to blame. What kind of idiot accepts a poisoned apple from a total stranger?

    Even Snow White's feat of survival was not her own doing. She didn't struggle against death, but was rescued from it by a handsome prince passing through the woods. May we point out that feudal lords were in the habit of ravishing young women encountered on their travels. Writers have irresponsibly glossed over the fact that this prince was a NECROPHILIAC who attempted to molest the apparently dead Snow White. Instead of being exposed as a filthy pervert, the prince was lauded as a savior.

    And what of Cinderella's "heroism?" She did the housework, which was a daunting task, but is it heroic? Were writers saying that the only heroism women are capable of is housework?

    Those who fancy themselves as romantics view wicked stepmothers as hindrances to true love and happiness. What, pray tell, are true love and eternal happiness? Do you actually believe that Snow White has found true love with her handsome NECROPHILIAC? As for Cinderella, doeas a tiny glass slipper constitute a stable foundation for a relationship? We think not.

    Also, has it never occured to you that Snow White, Cinderella, and many others areall married to men named Prince Charming? Is this a simple coincidence, or are these husbands one and the same person?

    Finally, we Wicked Stepmothers are roundly reviled and chastised as evil. What,we ask, is evil? The opposite of good; "harmful", "injurious". But the fairy tale writers themselves emphasize that good fortune came to ther so-called heroines at the end. These happy endings would not have happened if we had not concocted trials and tribulations for these so-called heroines. It is our contention that far from being evil, we are the instruments of their destiny.

     We demand justice.

We, the Organization of Wicked Stepmothers, strongly protest to the cruel and inhuman treatment we've received at the hands of the fairytale writers.

     For centuries, we've been called ugly, bloodthirsty stereotypes scheming to kill the "heroines", our deacesed husbands' children from previous marriages. Maybe it's too late to change your perverted perception of us, but in the interest of justice and intellectual freedom, we would like to raise the following points:

1. Define UGLY

2. What exactly have Cinderella, Snow White, and the rest of them have done to be named "heroines"?

3. Do true love and everlasting happiness actually exist?

4. What is EVIL?

Let us discuss the points one by one.

     UGLY is defined as "unpleasant to look at, hideous, repugnant". If we are indeed as ugly as those writers have proclaimed us to be, would these attractive, prominent men have married us? Our husbands are usually dead by the time the story begins, so noone knows what they were like, but since they produced beautiful offspring, it is generally assumed that they were handsome men. If you were a handsome man with a cosiderable fortune, would you marry a horrible crone??

     Also, we would like to remind you that Snow White's stepmom (who by the way, goes by the name of Lucrezia) was regarded as the loveliest in the kingdom before S.W. came to the picture. May we add that Lucrezia's relationship with her melanin-deprived stepdaughter was friendly before tha talkative mirror started showing intrigue.

     Put yourself in her place, you're the loveliest woman in the kingdom where women are regarded as possessions and where your value rests in your beauty.

    So far we've been using ugly in the physical sense. In the psychological sense, UGLY means "vile, so far beneath the standard of decency as to be dastardly". This is usually how Grizelda (popularly known as Cinderella's stepmum) was depicted. A heartless monster who deprives Cinderella of proper nutrition and shelter, and forces her to do slave labor.

    If she didn't wish to scrub floors, wash dishes, and perform grueling tasks in the household, couldn't she have just said so? She could've refused, complained, or put the case in court. WHY? We daresay that she might've enjoyed being oppressed, with her being the sympathetic character--the readers being suckers for the downttrodden "heroine".

    Following her marriage to Prince Charming, what kind of dolt marries a woman on the basis of her shoe size? Cinderella's publicists promoted her as a docile, submissive female rescued from a life of hard labor by her husband. It sent the message to women everywhere that quiet submission was rewarded, and that they were nothing without a man.
